|OUR HOLY FATHER POPE BENEDICT XVI|
Not only during his Pontificate has he inspired us. For some thirty years or more before his election to the Papal Throne, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was a beacon of orthodoxy in a Church gradually recovering fully its balance, after the post-Conciliar "churchquake". It is, to a considerable degree, thanks to God's Grace extended to him and to Blessed Pope John Paul II, that Christ's Church stands firmly to-day , perhaps"reeling, but erect" in Chesterton's marvellous phrase in "Orthodoxy".
It is hard to overestimate the impact of this great man of God's work. But as an example of one aspect of it we have the effort of one American commentator who wrote, following the Holy Father's visit to the United States, that he had "given the American people the vocabulary to discuss the moral crisis facing the United States".
|Fr. Ratzinger as Sub-Deacon|
Holy Father, we love you, we pray for you and wish you a fine celebration
in the company of your dearly loved brother Monsignor Georg Ratzinger especially.
