TOOWOOMBA DISSIDENT LEADERSHIP GROUP

Image
Last Sunday's Cathedral Parish Bulletin at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Toowoomba contained a piece of arrogant, deluded nonsense from the self-styled "Toowoomba Diocesan Leadership Group" in it the dissidents reported to the people the details of a meeting between a group of Queensland Bishops and the Group and deposed Bishop William Morris.

MORRIS "LEGACY"IN TOOWOOMBA - DAMNED BY A PRIEST SUPPORTER FROM BROKEN BAY SPEAKING TO A GERMAN CONFERENCE SEEKING TO SUBVERT THE NATURE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Image
In Munster in Germany some months ago, a gathering of dissident clerics determined to go as far as they could to undermine the organic structure of the Catholic Church by deft abuse of Canon Law , came together. As we readily see when we examine Canon Law it is composed to govern the Church on the basis of our catholic understanding of what the Church is. It does not envisage systematic subversion. There are therefore places where its wording is loss enough to enable that "smoke... to enter the sanctuary"to borrow Pope Paul VI's words from another context.

One of the papers delivered to this devious gathering came from Father David Ranson of the troubled Diocese of Broken Bay (Bishop David Walker 75 i n 530 days - but who is counting?). In the process of detailing its advocacy of Lay Leadership in the Church through a deliberate abuse of one of the Canons, it boasts of "progress"in this abuse and among the chosen examples it details TOOWOOMBA DIOCESE in Queensl…

THE GREEKS HAD A WORD FOR IT - BUT WHY IS IT NOT SPOKEN ABOUT?

Image
The Gospel is John 21 : 15 -19 in which according to our translations Jesus asks Saint Peter three times "Do you love Me?" Most preachers and teachers go with it as we see it, But the late Servant of God Archbishop Fulton J Sheen brilliant Scholar, Preacher and Retreat master and TV Star in the 1950s, pointed out that two verbs are used for "love "in the original Greek text : Jesus' first two questions use "agape" which is an unconditional all-consuming, sacrificial love - even unto death. However, both times, Peter, in responding, uses "phileo" - the normal  natural love between friends. For His third question, Jesus lowers the bar to meet poor Peter's more feeble responses : He Himself uses Phileo on this occasion to accommodate Peter.
If we cast our minds back to Holy Thursday night, we recall Jesus'prediction , and Peter's triple denial of Him, and how Saint Peter wept following the Lord's glance as He was taken away ( "…

LEFEBVRISTS - A SURPRISING COMMENT BY BISHOP TISSIER DE MALLERAIS

Image
In 1997 the radical traditionalist Remnant Newspaper published a lengthy interview with SSPX Bishop Bernard Tissier De Mallerais, in which - among many other things - His Lordship made the following responses:

"SH: There are always troublemakers, especially on the Internet, who quote so-called anonymous “inside sources” who often know really nothing, and who seem to  seek to splinter the Society by talking about a so-called “schism within the Society” if and when Bishop Fellay were to make a “deal” with Rome.  My question is this: when Bishop Fellay speaks, or makes a statement, does he so “on behalf of the bishops” of the Society? HL:  No.  I would say he speaks as the Superior General of the Society.  Simply that.
SH: So, as bishops your primary role is…
HL:  To give Confirmations and do Ordinations, simply.  That is the role that Archbishop Lefebvre gave us.  So we have no “leading role” in the Society, per se, we simply submit to the Superior General."

Whether this simple sub…

Yesterday, Wednesday 16th May, 2012 the Holy See's Press Office issued the following communique: "Communique on the Society of St. Pius X Vatican City, 16 May 2012 (VIS) - Early this afternoon, the Holy See Press Office issued the following communique regarding the Society of St. Pius X: "As reported by news agencies, today, 16 May 2012, an Ordinary Session of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith met to discuss the question of the Society of St. Pius X. Regarding the positions taken by the other three bishops of the Society of St. Pius X, their situations will have to be dealt with separately and singularly".
The last sentence of the Communique relates to the situation revealed when letters of the three other Lefebvrist…

ST.STEPHEN'S CATHEDRAL BRISBANE

Homily delivered at the Solemn Mass and Liturgical Reception for the new Archbishop of Brisbane
Your Excellency, the Apostolic Nuncio
Your Grace, Archbishop Bathersby
My Brother Bishops,
Your Excellency, the Governor of Queensland
Mr Premier
Distinguished Civic Leaders
Brothers and Sisters,
In these fifty days of the Easter festival, I greet you all in the name of the Risen Christ who stands among us.  He is the one to whom we look first and last – not to me as the new Archbishop.  All praise to him, “the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead” (Rev 1:5), “the Alpha and the Omega” (Rev 1:8), the beginning and the end.  As I begin my apostolic ministry among you, I pray from the depth of my being that in seeing me, you will see him, that in hearing me, you will hear the one who has sent me. Of my six predecessors in the See of Brisbane, four were born in Ireland and two in Queensland.  …
