PYMBLE NSW SACRED HEART PARISH "MISSION/RENEWAL"2012
For background on the trio above please see our posts both on 1st June, 2012.
The Parish Mission/Renewal started last night with an International Food Fair in a Marquee erected at the entry to the church. How else would one start a Parish Mission? I gave that a miss!
At this morning's 9.30 am Mass - the Church was half full only - the Celebrant was the Parish Priest Father Szgy Wloczeck SDS, and at the entry procession he was joined by Father Champlin in Dominican Summer ( all white) habit and Sr Bukrey in her black Pants Suit and necklace. ( Father Nicholas Punch O.P. was at West Pymble where the Curate Father Mariusz Adamczyck was celebrating Mass) .
The two Missioners stationed themselves in the Sanctuary from which Sr Bukrey continued to examine the congregation over the next hour without much regard for what was happening. When the proclamation of the Gospel was to be performed by Father Champlin ( sans Stole) the good Sister walked beside him and stood beside him as if she were a Sacred Minister. When he had finished the proclamation of the Gospel, Father announced that Sister Bukrey would be offering her reflections on the Gospel Readings (!). Evidently, the word "reflections"was intended to avoid the word Homily which may only be delivered by A Priest or a Deacon. This subterfuge at the very beginning of their work speaks volumes about their integrity. It is, in any case, pointless since a Homily is required and that was not provided. What we did get was the good Sisters muddled concoction of invention, misinterpretation, error, truth and confusion over the life, role, beliefs, and actions of Saint John the Baptist and the good old Spirit of the Council deceits about the origins of the Gospels and their historicity, with complete disregard for the Council's "Dei Verbum".
We reached the Consecration : though he was not a concelebrant Father Champlin remained standing throughout AND Sr. Bukrey did LIKEWISE! No doubt this dear old Spirit of the Council creature has come to think of herself as some kind of Priestess or the like!
The good Sister was super quick off the mark to wash her hands prior to the designated Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist arriving to ensure that she would be among them. Bizarrely, the Parish Priest did not distribute Holy Communion whilst these Extraordinary ministrations did proceed. This is contrary to his obligations as Celebrant.
This was all more than enough for me. There was much else that went wrong from a miniature dog climbing the Sanctuary steps to sniff the good Sister, to an interminable "Tribute Song"to a departing employee etc.But let that pass - one could only receive "bad vibes"about the Mission/ Renewal.
