NO MORE LAY LEADERSHIP! IN WAHROONGA AT LEAST !

HOLY NAME CHURCH WAHROONGA NSW
Regular readers will recall our earlier post :http://vexilla-regis.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/bishop-david-walker-not-single.htmlon the many troubles besetting the waters of Broken Bay Diocese in the Northern reaches of Sydney. Apart from the total absence of Seminarians ( until , in the last week or so, two were imported from Vietnam) , the policy of Bishop David Louis Walker (retiring in 441 days) to introduce Lay Leadership and not appoint Parish Priests as required by Canon Law, had set him at odds with Parishoners at Wahroonga in Sydney's Upper North Shore and put him at odds with most of his clergy.

Well, this is it seems , is going to be good news week.Usually reliable sources have reported that on next Sunday it will be announced that the Lay Leadership Fuhrer Ms Gail Gill will finish her appointment on 16th September and that Father David Ranson has been appointed Administrator of the Parish.

It is not clear precisely why this much prayed for result ( at least as regards Ms Gill) has been achieved. But the Parishoners had sent a very carefully drafted letter to the Congregation for Bishops we understand, complaining about the departure from Catholic tradition and the Canon Law, in recent weeks. We understand that it is still being said that the Bishop favours the Lay Leadership "model"- but that may be no more than face saving.

It is a great result for the faithful Catholic Parishoners, and for Catholic orthodoxy and legitimacy.
