DON'T MISS LES MIS.!
The marvellous Ann Hathaway
GOD, VIRTUE, FORGIVENESS, RELIGION HONOURED AND RESPECTED
BEST MOVIE IN A LONG, LONG, TIME.
It is not often that Movies get a mention in VEXILLA REGIS, but here is a most remarkable exception.
This is a brilliant movie by any standards, but to get a Guernsey here on VEXILLA REGIS it has to demonstrate exceptional quality where the Glory of God is concerned. And in its respectful handling of the key elements of Victor Hugo's classic novel it has succeeded in doing so in a manner that we have not seen in many a long day, nor are likely to see for some time to come.
With consummate skill in cinematography, acting, singing, and all the technical aspect of film making , the film recounts the story of the petty criminal Jean Valjean, his cruel punishment for the theft of a loaf of bread, his harshly conditioned release at the end of his sentence, the loving kindness shown him by a Bishop whose generosity he tries to abuse, his conversion under the Bishop's influence, his earthly redemption his principled refusal to let another suffer for his offence along the way we see his consistent practice of works of mercy. We also see the relentless, unforgiving pursuit by the Police Inspector Javer, whose refusal to accept that anyone is capable of conversion, leads to his own despair when he is confronted with incontrovertible evidence that it has happened in his own experience.
Conversion - Hugh Jackman
Throughout the story, Crucifix and Altar, Bishop and Nuns are treated with respect and idealized, whilst God is HONOURED, called upon, thanked and praised.
It has been a long time since the Christian religion and in this instance the Catholic religion and all its aspects received such a normal and HONOURED treatment.
GO! See the film, you will truly love it and in doing so you will reward the producers for their respectful treatment of our holy Faith, and of the one true God!
Despair - Russell Crowe is brilliant.
