A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW AND AUSTRALIA NEEDS ANOTHER NEW BISHOP

BISHOP DAVID WALKER  BROKEN BAY
Birthdays are important, and Bishop David Walker of the troubled Broken Bay Diocese is having a significant one tomorrow - his 75th. In anticipation of it , he has already submitted his mandatory Resignation to the Holy Father some months back and acknowledged to a plenary meeting of his Priests that it had been accepted " Nunc pro Tunc" that is " Now for Then/ Afterwards" . Which means it is to be effective when his Successor is appointed.

Our readers will recall that Bishop "call me Brian" Heenan of Rockhampton had been left hanging on there for many months before obtaining his actual release BEFORE the appointment of his Successor . Just another one of the Australian Dioceses and Auxiliary appointments left vacant for a long time. Let us pray that with all he troubles long well known by the Holy see in Broken Bay, that someone is promptly found to succeed in more ways than one.

Meantime the retiring Bishop was to be seen last Friday shopping in relaxed fashion at the Pauline "Catholic" Bookshop in Sydney.

We shall " watch this space" very carefully and keep you informed, though we  are not "holding our breath."

According to today's Vatican bulletin, Bishop Walker's resignation has been accepted and is effective today. No successor was named, nor was an administrator. Maybe the VG is taking the helm.

Pax.
