BISHOP DAVID WALKER - BISHOP OF BROKEN BAY NO LONGER

RINUNCE E NOMINE, 13.11.2013

[B0743]

RINUNCE E NOMINE
● RINUNCIA DEL VESCOVO DI BROKEN BAY (AUSTRALIA)
Il Santo Padre Francesco ha accettato la rinuncia al governo pastorale della diocesi di Broken Bay (Australia), presentata da S.E. Mons. David Louis Walker, in conformità al can. 401 § 1 del Codice di Diritto Canonico.
[01679-01.01]

It is official. Rare enough in Australia these days, the resignation of Bishop David Walker has been accepted by the Holy Father on the day it was required  - to-day his 75th Birthday.

Readers may recall our earlier posts on the Bishop and his strange actions and statements.

If anyone remained in doubt about the problems of Broken Bay Diocese, this notice mounted in Holy Name Parish Wahroonga at the recent 65th Anniversary celebrations of the former Priory Church, should leave no doubts at all why the rsignation was so instantly publicly accepted :
Note the "Priestess" in the lower panel.
Readers will recall the furore over the Bishop's efforts to promote Lay Leadership and his ultimate dropping of the concept after it was reported to the Holy See, as we have previously reported.

Thanks be to God. He was a favourite of the Archdiocese of Hobart in the past, always invited to give retreats to the priests, spreading his priestless parishes and heretical ideas.
