EVEN MORE MARTIN LUTHER and Pope Francis

A YOUNGER MARTIN LUTHER, PRIEST
"Serious research into the figure of Luther and his
critique of the Church of his time and the papacy
certainly contributes to overcoming the atmosphere
 of mutual distrust....."
Pope Francis 31st March, 2017 Vatican Radio

Let us see how serious research contributes to overcoming the atmosphere of "mutual distrust" :What was Martin Luther's attitude in principle, to those who opposed him:
"Defensive wars are not merely as just self-defence, but they are also revenge." "A war declared out of revenge, is a just and orderly work"("Table Talk" ,3478)"

Yet we, of course, are committed to following Jesus Christ, how can we look to Martin Luther, in the light of our commitment to Christ, in "mutual trust"?
It was Luther who said : " I have greater confidence in my wife and my pupils than I have in Christ," he said on one occasion quite shamelessly("Table Talk " 2397b) When I beheld Christ I seemed to see the Devil". I had a great aversion for Christ." "Often I was horrified at the name of Christ , and when I regarded Him on the Cross, it was as if I had been struck by lightning and when I heard His Name mentioned, I would rather have heard the name of the Devil" ( See Jansen **72; also Maritain, "Three Reformers" p169). "I did not believe in Christ" wrote Luther in 1537. The example of Jesus Christ Himself very often meant nothing to Luther (See E 29, 196)."

And, as we research and try to find the grounds for that "mutual trust", perhaps we can consider his further thoughts on God:

"God, on the other hand, seemed to him "a master armed with a stick". "God did mischievously blind me"; "God often acts like a madman"; "God paralyses the old and blinds the young and thus remains Master"; " I look upon God no better than a scoundrel"; "God is stupid".( "Table Talk" No. 963, W 1, 48)"

"Mutual trust" anyone?

Someone has not done any homework.
